DMSO - CUTS, BUMPS, BRUISES

Although an everyday problem, cuts, bumps and bruises can vary greatly in severity from person to person, DMSO as a first aid is indispensable!  But remember the golden rule – if the cut is very large it may need stitches, or if the person with a serious bump to the head for example is showing signs of sleepiness, vomiting etc – First apply DMSO and then seek MEDICAL HELP!

CUTS -   Apply solution as soon as possible after the cut.  Do note that it will slightly increase the bleeding (DMSO is also a blood thinner) for a short period of time.  No need to worry about this – UNLESS AN ARTERY OR VEIN HAS BEEN CUT!

You will certainly experience some stinging and or pain for a very short period of time – a few minutes. This will subside quite quickly and unless the cut is in an area that may be constantly aggravated by using the hand eg the tip of a finger – do not cover with a plaster.  Continue applying the solution a few more times, especially at night just before going to bed.

BUMPS and BRUISES – Although anybody can sustain a bump or a bruise, it seems that it is the very young and the elderly that suffers the most.  Young babies learning to walk, very often sustain terrible bumps (usually the head).  Applying this solution as soon as you can, will stop the swelling, will stop the discoloration and will stop the pain - literally within a few minutes!

Many of the elderly are also taking blood thinners which quite often results in very dark bruises on the entire body.  This solution is absolutely wonderful to use, BUT take another look at the blood thinners – it causes internal bleeding firstly under the skin (hence the bruises) and secondly frequently causes internal bleeding usually in the GI tract!

Anyone on blood thinner medication can apply DMSO topically but should not take DMSO orally together with their medication – remember DMSO is also a blood thinner!
